LIVERPOOL VS CHELSEA, WHAT THE MANAGERS SAY

By Gigi

Liverpool versus Chelsea has become a very 21st century rivalry, and so whenever they meet there seems to be something extra on the line.

Jurgen Klopp and Antonio Conte might be a little bit too cool to indulge in the type of slanging matches that the club's former bosses Rafael Benitez and Jose Mourinho used to revel in, but the simple fact is that the sheer volume of matches between the Reds and Blues in the late part of the 2000s has made both sets of fans turn against each other.

Jürgen — take this as a cheeky letter from me to you, but from the heart — we have to rotate. I know you have all the sports science data and I don’t, but the evidence of our eyes was that Liverpool players were dead on their feet in the second half in Seville.

Me, I’d take Chelsea as a free hit. I think Stoke and Brighton are bigger games. Well, they’re more winnable games. Not glamorous wins if you get them, but three points from the crap teams is of the same value from the better ones. I’d take chances for Chelsea. I think we might beat them come what May.

Antonio Conte is doubtful of a favourable derby, blaming the choked fixtures.
"On Saturday we are going to play another tough game against Liverpool.

"This season it is the second time we have had this situation, firstly against Manchester City and now Liverpool. We played Qarabag on Wednesday and we are playing tomorrow, with a long trip from Baku it is very difficult to recover and rest.

"Who prepare the fixtures for the league must pay great attention.

"Because it is difficult to ask if we can catch Man City if we are in this situation.

"I don’t want to find an excuse, but this is the reality."
