HEALTH: TIPS TO OVERCOMING UNDERWEIGHT

While a good number of people are fat and overweight, actually a high number of people are underweight as well.

And just like being overweight, being underweight also has its problems both medically and psychologically.

Not everyone is happy being “small” or being underweight.

According to @DrOlufunmilayo, a favorite online Doctor on Twitter, Underweight can be addressed by taking more meat, yoghurts, eggs, fish, potatoes, yam brown rice etc.
Eating the above listed foods in large quantity, having enough rest after and avoiding stress at all cost.



Underweight is detected by calculating Body Mass Index (BMI). 
Body Mass Index is the measurement of a person's body weight in respect to his/her height.
The formula is BMI = Weight in kilogram divided by Height in meters squared.

Example: if weight = 70kg and height =1.82m 
Multiply Height by itself =
1.82m² = 1.82×1.82 = 3.3124
Divide weight by the answer =
70kg =70÷3.3124 = 21.1
BMI of 70kg/1.82m
                 =21.1

A normal BMI score is the one that falls within 18.5 - 24.9. This clearly indicate that the person's weight is normal.

Below 18.5 - Underweight
18.5 - 24.9 - Normal
25.0 - 29.9 - Overweight
30.0 plus - Obese

Clinical relevance of BMI

Sometimes Underweight is hereditary and in that case there is absolutely little you can do about It, even when you're feeding well and resting all you can.. Lol

If you have done all there is to do, yet you're still skinny and underweight, kindly see a doctor, don't hesitate. Sometimes illnesses and infections can keep people underweight. 

After seeing a doctor in the case of illnesses and infections you'll still need lots of balanced diet to get normal body weight.
