AKWA UNITED FORCED ABIA WARRIORS TO A DRAW

By Somtochukwu

Coach Abdul Maikaba tutored Akwa United forced Abia Warriors to a barren draw in NPFL week 30 clash.
The match which was played at the Umuahia Township Stadium saw the home side making early incursion into the visitor's defence which was solidly marshaled by the superlative Skipper Otobong Effiong, together with CHAN Eagle's invitee Ariwa Emmanuel, Sand Eagles Godspower Igudia and Kodjovi Dadzie.
The Coach Abdullahi Biffo side came into the encounter with high expectations having lost at Maiduguri over the weekend to El Kanemi Warriors, but it was going to be yet another disappointing fixture for the Umuahia based club.

The encounter recorded a lot of misses from both teams but the most glaring was a miss from Sunday Adetunji in the first half for Abia Warriors and a one-on-one situation in the second half thrown away on a platter of gold by Christian Pyagbara of Akwa United having received a tailored pass from Musa Numan.
Though the hosts stepped up pressure in the closing stages of the game putting the Akwa defence under siege, the game ended barren as both sides shared one point apiece.
Akwa still sit on third position on the log and will be travelling to Maiduguri to log horns with El Kanemi in week 31.

Meanwhile, the match between Rangers and MFM will be completed tomorrow morning by 8am having been called off due to waterlogged pitch cause by heavy downpour. Rangers were leading by a lone goal after first half and 45mins of the second half will be completed tomorrow.
